Clinical Microbiologist, German Lead
Achim Kaasch is Professor of Medical Microbiology at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and Director of the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hospital Hygiene. He studied medicine in Würzburg, Germany, trained at Yale, Johns Hopkins, and the University of Cologne, Germany. His research focuses on S. aureus bloodstream infections and diagnostics. He led several multicenter studies on S. aureus bloodstream infection, including the SABATO trial. Prof. Kaasch is also active in academic teaching and public health.
