Microbiologist, Hong Kong Lead
Dr Rita Ng is a specialist in Clinical Microbiology and infectious diseases. Currently, she is an Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology of Faculty of Medicine in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her work focuses specifically on alterations in microbiome composition in human diseases including neurodevelopmental disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Her research interests include microbiome, antibiotic resistance, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). She has extensive expertise in clinical microbiology, antibiotic stewardship, infection control in healthcare facilities, clinical standard and audit and quality assurance of clinical microbiology laboratories. Dr Ng is currently the member of Centre for Gut Microbiota Research and member of CUHK Multidisciplinary working group on Faecal Microbiota Biobanking and Transplantation. She is also the Honorary Associate Consultant of the Department of Microbiology of the Prince of Wales Hospital. She serves as Assessor of Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (HOKLAS). In addition, she serves as the member of European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) Scientific Affairs Subcommittee (SAS) for the theme Diagnostics and the Regional Collaborator (Hong Kong) of Alliance of International Science Organization (ANSO).
