C-SNAP is a sub-study of the SNAP trial that will prospectively analyse plasma vitamin C level along with other data (patients, disease and treatment factors) collected from patients enrolled on the SNAP trial over 12 months.
This sub-study aims to:
i) describe estimate prevalence of hypovitaminosis C and vitamin C deficiency in patients with SAB
ii) explore whether Vitamin C deficiency develops or worsens in the early stages of management for SAB and sepsis.
iii) examine associations between Vitamin C deficiency on admission and other patient, disease and treatment factors.
iv) provide pilot data informing the feasibility a randomised controlled study of early Vitamin C replacement.
